Why is a hammer and sickle shirt offensive?

Is it just says the unity of the workers or a bad thing?

It is a symbol typically associated with communist Russia and China. It has something to do with power and unity of workers, but usually accompanied by an oppressive form of Govt. The Paper communism may seem attractive, but in practice it is only a good thing for the few at the top that run everything. Come to abuse each of them below without consequences. It's not something most aspire. Will likely get some looks and possibly some feedback if you are sporting the hammer and sickle.
